Artium Associates

The Client

Artium Associates is a close-knit family run talent agency for children and young performers. Founded by Emma Humphries after twelve years experience being the mother of not one but three child actors, her mission is to create a supportive environment for children to fulfil their potential and enter the world of work. The team aim to get to know all of their clients personally, in particular their strengths and abilities, which helps immensely when it comes to submitting them for jobs. Artium Associates are based in Swindon and represent children from all over the country.

The Brief

As a start-up, Artium needed a site that conveyed a professional, established organisation without breaking the budget. The site needed to be responsive without any loss of functionality or content. For launch it was decided that a more contemporary design whereby all the essential details are contained in sections on one page rather than multiple pages would be the way to go. We also needed to make sure the site could scale as more clients were signed to Artium.

The Outcome

The client was extremely happy with the outcome as it satisfied all their needs for the launch. Artium has successfully signed many promising actors and we are now in the process of designing the portfolio pages for these clients to show them off at their best. Now that they have been trading for a few months they have accrued more content such as news articles and testimonials and we will also be building these pages out for them in the near future. This is a long term relationship where we will be supporting them as their business grows and their needs evolve.

Bridlewood Primary School

The Client

Bridlewood Primary School is a Community School based in Swindon with 270 pupils. The school has developed a personality and culture that is reflected in the school's performance but more importantly in how the children enjoy their time at the school so much. Webpulse took over the hosting and management of the website 3 years ago and have continued to support them in many aspects of the school's media related activities as well as the website.

The Brief

The original site was based on a tabular format and struggled to keep pace with the school's ever changing needs. The school wanted a new site that would be more engaging both for parents as well as the children. It was also an opportunity review how effective the content was, what interested visitors and what, perhaps, was adding little or no value. In parallel to the initial design discussions, Webpulse deployed analytics tools to help us build a picture of who and how the site was being used. We were also able to determine that more than 60% of site visitors were using a tablet or smartphone to access the site. We also wanted to include the children in the design of the site and thorugh the school council they came up with some brilliant ideas for the site.

The Outcome

The analytics tools helped us to determine which pages were important and enable us to make sure the navigation reflected this. We also identified pages that were just not looked at but the school felt they were important. We were able to raise the profile of these pages and make sure they added value to the visitors experience. The site is fully responsive and all features and menu options are available on all devices. Everything a parent/carer needs to know about their child such as homework, spellings, curriculum topic and what they are getting up to, is all on one page now and easily accessed with the interactive tree on the home page (one of the children's ideas). We also made sure the site was fully compliant with the latest government mandatory requirements which are now legal obligations for all maintained schools. We continue to manage the site for the school, publishing daily updates and photographs making this a thriving site and a valuable asset to the school community.

Lainesmead Primary School

The Client

Lainesmead Primary School is based in Central Swindon and had approximately 420 pupils at the time of the project. With several primary schools in the area, competition is strong to attract new pupils to stay at capacity and maintain funding levels. Lainesmead had taken a strategic approach to this and have invested in the "brand" to market itself with a revamped uniform, logo and prospectus. Webpulse took over the management of the website 2 years ago. We have also advised the school on social media and school based applications

The Brief

Although the website had undergone a facelift by the previous management company it was still based on 1990's development processes. Any "rich" features were delivered using flashplayer. This meant that the site wasn't responsive (scales for any device) and as more than 60% of site visitors do so on a mobile device this was having a huge impact on the usability of the site. A large majority of those mobile devices were iOS based and these devices don't support flashplayer further impacting on the user experience. The school needed a completely new site to be responsive and support new media types to make it as engaging as possible. The school was keen to maintain the "brand" and make it appealing to children whilst leaving visitors in no doubt that this was a primary school website.

The Outcome

The new site was very well received by everyone involved in the school. They are now able to publish video and audio content showing the children's activities each week. There are a large number of children whose first language is not English. To make the site as inclusive as possible for the families of these children who may live abroad, we have added language translation to the site. We have used a lot of colour and kept the pages as clean and clear as possible whilst still maintaining a high level of content and detail underpinned by a logical navigation and menu layout. We change the background based on the four seasons or special holiday periods.
